4) Andrzejewski Memorial Fund
An award in honour of Professor B W Andrzejewski, scholar and broadcaster who specialised in the
languages and literatures of the Horn of Africa. The objective of the award is to support individual study or
field work on the Horn Region or to assist the study, production or provision of materials which will
support language, literature, education or broadcasting in the region.
Successful applicants will be required to submit a report of approximately two thousand words on the use
of their award, no later than three months after the completion of their course or project.
Applicants are asked to ensure that they meet the above conditions as regards to region and area of their
study. A letter of application for this award should be sent to Africa Educational Trust, 18 Hand Court,
London WC1V 6JF marked Andrzejewski Memorial Fund. Please note that the value of this award is not
sufficient to cover all costs of study.

AERC/Journal of African Economies, Visiting Scholars Programme
Objectives
The AERC/Journal of African Economies Visiting Scholars Programme provides for short-term visiting fellowships to the Centre for the Study of African Economies at the University of Oxford. The programme will enable AERC network members to visit Oxford and distill a publishable journal article from their recent research.
It is intended that the fellowship will support independent research and study while in Oxford. Visiting fellows will interact with scholars and participate in the intellectual life of the Centre, the Department of Economics and St Antony’s College. Fellows are expected to attend all CSAE seminars and to present at least one seminar on their own research while in Oxford.

Each visit would normally last for a period of two months, coinciding with one academic term at Oxford.
Eligibility

Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Hold a PhD in Economics;
Be affiliated with an academic institution or research centre located in sub-Saharan Africa;
Publications in refereed journals.
Having recently completed an AERC supported project no longer is a requirement.
Application Procedure

Applications should include the following:A letter stating what the applicant wishes to do while at Oxford including proposed title(s) of paper(s) they intend to write and outlines if available;
Copy of any completed AERC project reports;
Copy of their updated curriculum vitae.
Visiting fellows will be provided with a desk and computer in shared office space, and with access to the internet and university libraries. Accommodation will be provided at St Antony’s College, as well as membership of the St Antony’s College senior common room. A generous stipend will be provided to cover the cost of a plane ticket and the cost of living while in Oxford.
