Entry requirements
General requirements for undergraduate courses

Five passes at one sitting at Higher Grade in the Matriculation Exams are considered to be suitable for direct entry to undergraduate study.

With regard to grades, entry requirements vary according to subject, but are typically in the region of AAAAB – BBBBB.

For entry onto certain subjects, particularly science or engineering degree courses, Schools may ask certain for subjects at Higher Level, usually mathematics and physics.
General requirements for postgraduate/research courses
Students who have completed a Bachelor Honours degree with good grades from a recognised institution will be considered for postgraduate study.
English language requirements

For students whose first language is not English, our standard English language requirements apply.

English language requirements vary by course and department but are usually the equivalent of IELTS 6.0 – 7.5.

Non-native English-speaking applicants who have successfully completed a degree qualification in the medium of English from a recognised South African university will be considered for English language requirement exemption.
